In Krakau, Polen, geboren, erhielt Weronika Frodyma ihre Ballettausbildung an der Warschauer Ballettschule in Polen sowie an der School of American Ballet in New York. Zwischen 2007 und 2009 tanzte sie am Polnischen Nationalballett in Warschau. 2009 wechselte sie zum Staatsballett Berlin, wo sie 2011 zur Demi-Solistin, 2019 zur Solistin und 2024 zur Ersten Solistin befördert wurde. Sie assistierte Xenia Wiest bei ihren choreografischen Arbeiten und inszenierte einige ihrer Ballette. Außerdem wirkte sie in dem Dokumentarfilm Sometimes I Dream I’m Flying von Aneta Popiel-Machnicka mit.
Weronika Frodyma tanzte in zahlreichen klassischen Balletten sowie modernen Werken internationaler Choreograf*innen, darunter: Angelin Preljocaj (Snow White, The Nights), Maurice Béjart (Ring um den Ring), George Balanchine (Jewels), Alexei Ratmansky (Namouna, La Bayadere), William Forsythe (The 2nd Detail, Herman Shmerman, Blake Works I, Approximate Sonata 2016), Nacho Duato (Multiplicity/Forms of Silence and Emptiness, White Darkness, Static Time), Jiří Kylian (Petit Mort), Mats Ek (A Sort of…), Pina Bausch (Sacre du Printeps) and Crystal Pite (Angels’ Atlas).
Weronika Frodyma gewann den 2. Preis beim 14. Tanzwettbewerb in Danzig (Polen) sowie den 1. Preis beim 4. Internationalen Wettbewerb in Charkiw (Ukraine) und wurde 2006 als beste Tanzabsolventin Polens ausgezeichnet. 2024 wurde sie von der Zeitschrift tanz zur Tänzerin des Jahres 2024 für ihre Rolle der Emma Bovary in Christian Spucks Ballett Bovary gekürt.

About

Born in Krakow, Poland, Weronika Frodyma received her ballet training at the Warsaw Ballet School in Poland and at the School of American Ballet in New York. Between 2007 and 2009, she danced at the Polish National Ballet in Warsaw. In 2009, she moved to the Staatsballett Berlin, where she was promoted to demi-soloist in 2011, soloist in 2019 and first soloist in 2024. She assisted Xenia Wiest in her choreographic work and staged some of her ballets. She also took part in the documentary film Sometimes I Dream I'm Flying by Aneta Popiel-Machnicka.

Weronika Frodyma won second prize at the 14th Dance Competition in Gdansk (Poland) and first prize at the 4th International Competition in Kharkiv (Ukraine) and was honored as the best dance graduate in Poland in 2006. In 2024, she was named Dancer of the Year 2024 by the magazine tanz for her role as Emma Bovary in Christian Spuck's ballet Bovary.
