Joana Moll

Joana Moll (*1982, Barcelona) ist Künstlerin, Forscherin und Professorin für Netzwerke an der Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Barcelona und Berlin. In ihrer Arbeit untersucht sie kritisch, wie techno-kapitalistische Narrative die Alphabetisierung von Maschinen, Menschen und Ökosystemen prägen. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen die Materialität des Internets, Überwachung, soziales Profiling, Schnittstellen und Energie.

Moll hat ihre Arbeiten in internationalen Museen, Universitäten und auf Festivals präsentiert, darunter die Biennale von Venedig, MAXXI Rom, ZKM Karlsruhe, MACBA Barcelona, Ars Electronica Linz, HeK Basel, Photographer's Gallery London sowie zahlreiche Hochschulen wie Harvard, Cambridge, Goldsmiths und ETH Zürich. Über ihre Arbeit wurde in führenden internationalen Medien berichtet, darunter New York Times, Financial Times, Der Spiegel, National Geographic und Wired.

Sie ist Mitbegründerin der Critical Interface Politics Research Group am HANGAR in Barcelona und des Institute for the Advancement of Popular Automatisms. Neben ihrer künstlerischen Praxis ist sie derzeit Gastdozentin an der Universität Potsdam und an der Escola Elisava in Barcelona sowie künstlerische Forscherin am Critical Media Lab der HGK FHNW in Basel.

Joana Moll (born 1982, Barcelona) is an artist, researcher and professor of networks at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. She lives and works in Barcelona and Berlin. In her work, she critically examines how techno-capitalist narratives shape the literacy of machines, humans and ecosystems. Her research focuses on the materiality of the internet, surveillance, social profiling, interfaces and energy.

Moll has presented her work in international museums, universities and festivals, including the Venice Biennale, MAXXI Rome, ZKM Karlsruhe, MACBA Barcelona, Ars Electronica Linz, HeK Basel, Photographer's Gallery London, and numerous universities such as Harvard, Cambridge, Goldsmiths and ETH Zurich. Her work has been featured in leading international media outlets, including the New York Times, Financial Times, Der Spiegel, National Geographic and Wired.

She is co-founder of the Critical Interface Politics Research Group at HANGAR in Barcelona and the Institute for the Advancement of Popular Automatisms. In addition to her artistic practice, she is currently a guest lecturer at the University of Potsdam and the Escola Elisava in Barcelona, as well as an artistic researcher at the Critical Media Lab at HGK FHNW in Basel.
