Belenish Moreno-Gil

Belenish Moreno-Gil (*1993 in Jerez de la Frontera, Spanien) ist Post-Komponistin, Dramaturgin und Musikwissenschaftlerin. Ihr künstlerischer Fokus liegt seit 2018 auf zeitgenössischem Musiktheater und musikalischer Dramaturgie. Ihre Arbeiten wurden unter anderem bei Wien Modern, Rainy Days Luxembourg, Kunstfest Weimar und am ZKM Karlsruhe aufgeführt. 2021 erhielt ihr Werk Subnormal Europe eine Ehrenerwähnung beim renommierten Prix Ars Electronica. 

Moreno-Gil studierte Musikwissenschaft an der Universidad de Granada und absolvierte ein Masterstudium in musikalischem Erbe. Parallel dazu erhielt sie eine Gesangsausbildung am Conservatorio Superior Victoria Eugenia (Granada) und an der mdw Wien. Als Mitglied einer Forschungsgruppe an der Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona untersucht sie andalusischen Feminismus und dessen künstlerische Ausdrucksformen. 

In ihrer Arbeit hinterfragt sie Machtstrukturen, Biopolitik und soziale Dissidenz. Sie kombiniert Musik, Video und performative Elemente zu multidimensionalen Erzählformen. Ihr Schaffen verbindet künstlerische Forschung mit politischem Bewusstsein und einem tiefen Interesse an der Schnittstelle von Musik, Identität und Gesellschaft.

Since 2018, her artistic focus has been on contemporary music theater and musical dramaturgy. Her works have been performed at Wien Modern, Rainy Days Luxembourg, Kunstfest Weimar and ZKM Karlsruhe, among others. In 2021, her work Subnormal Europe received an honorary mention at the prestigious Prix Ars Electronica. 

Moreno-Gil studied musicology at the Universidad de Granada and completed a Master's degree in musical heritage. At the same time, she received vocal training at the Conservatorio Superior Victoria Eugenia (Granada) and at the mdw Vienna. As a member of a research group at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, she studies Andalusian feminism and its artistic forms of expression. 

In her work she questions power structures, biopolitics and social dissidence. She combines music, video and performative elements to create multidimensional narrative forms. Her work combines artistic research with political awareness and a deep interest in the intersection of music, identity and society.
